WWE Summerslam 2014 Results and Review: The Beast Laughs at The Champ

Summerslam 2

It’s not worth it, Miz! Just let him have the title. The moneymaker isn’t worth this.

Dolph Ziggler def. The Miz To Become The New Intercontinental Champion

Overview: Before his match, The Miz told the whole crowd that he would make Dolph Ziggler as much a loser as the Lakers. The Miz played to the crowd in this fight which always allowed Ziggler to get back into it. When The Miz let Ziggler really get going, he fell right into a Superkick for a nearfall.

Miz managed to reverse a Famouser into a Skull Crushing Finale for his own nearfall. When Miz then went for a running boot to a sitting Ziggler, Dolph ducked and suddenly hit the Zig Zag for the victory.

Analysis: The chemistry of Dolph Ziggler and The Miz is extremely noticeable. The two just click, and it’s hard not to sit back and be enthralled. Even though this was just meant to be a simple opener, it delivered as one of the better matches of the night because it did everything it needed to do. It was fast, energetic, controlled the crowd, and it had a big moment with its finish.

Dolph Ziggler is now Intercontinental Champion, and it felt good to see it. WWE built this as important to Dolph going back to his expression of being an inch from victory at Battleground. Now Ziggler is there, and I hope WWE keeps selling the title as a reasonably big deal with feuds like Ziggler and Miz continuing for the title.

Agreed across the board on the grades, Kevin, though I would give Lesnar/Cena an 8/10.

Sole reason is because it would have been cooler if Lesnar did just this to Taker first then did the same to Cena.

It seems weird that Cena and Triple H not only beat him but dragged him to 15 minute fights while now – with no real kayfabe reason for his inexplicable unbeatableness – he can beat a guy like Cena in eight minutes without a scratch.

But that’s just me; it was still an incredible sight obviously.

A+ for the last slide joke, brother.
