WWE News: Undertaker To Compete at WrestleMania XXIX

According to PWInsider.com, The Undertaker has contacted WWE and said he wants to compete at WrestleMania XXIX, and has pitched a potential opponent.

News had been going around, earlier this year, stating that The Undertaker was really banged up, and could potentially miss WrestleMania, but it is now looking more and more like he will be there.

Personally, I am torn on this news. On the one hand, I am a huge Undertaker fan. I watched as he made his debut as Kane the Undertaker, and I have become more focused on his streak than many of the other matches of the recent WrestleManias. WrestleMania would not be the same without him.

On the other hand, I know his career is not long for this world, even though he only competes once a year.

The streak has become such a huge spectacle that we now expect to see amazing matches when Undertaker is involved. The recent matches with Triple H and Shawn Michaels are considered the norm of what a streak match should be. Compare these matches to the ones with Jimmy Snuka, and Jake Roberts, the begining of the streak, and you will see there is no comparison.

If The Undertaker can compete at the caliber he has in the past WrestleManias, then I am all for him to be at the next one. However, if he is forcing himself to compete, thus the match suffers, then I would much rather see the deadman’s career rest in peace.
