WWE News September 10, 2012: Goldberg Reportedly Close To Reaching Legend’s Deal with WWE

According to a new report from earlier this evening, former WCW and WWE superstar Goldberg is reportedly close to signing a legends deal with WWE. The report reads:

WZ has learned through several sources that Bill Goldberg is about to sign a Legends deal with WWE.

In addition to signing a contract with the company, a Goldberg DVD is expected to be released in the summer of 2013.

It’s unknown at this time if Goldberg will have any further involvement with the company beyond the DVD project.

As some might already know, a Goldberg DVD was listed in a WWE Home Entertainment 2013 DVD release list that was exclusively released today on WWE’s official website.

Goldberg has not been seen or affiliated with WWE since March 14, 2004 at WrestleMania XX where he would face Brock Lesnar, who was also departing from WWE at the time. The fans in attendance at Madison Square Garden would learn that both men were leaving the company and jeer both of them post-match.

In a recent interview on 4th & Pain, Goldberg stated that he would be interested in wrestling “Stone ColdSteve Austin, The Undertaker and a rematch with Brock Lesnar.

Seeing as how Goldberg and WWE haven’t had any contact in quite a while, these news come across as quite a shock to me. I certainly didn’t expect much, but thoughts began crossing my mind after seeing Goldberg’s name on the 2013 DVD releases. As I stated this afternoon on social media, I believe that if Goldberg would return to the ring as part of this legends deal, it would be a big mistake.

In my opinion, the master of the Jackhammer is extremely overrated and never brought anything special to the table. However, if this legends deal includes special appearances, DVDs and such, I would not mind it. Make sure to take this with a grain of salt, though, as this report is not confirmed.

Goldburg doesnt bring anything to the table? How do you come to that conclusion? Ryback is up and coming in the WWE and what does he bring to the table that Goldburg cant? Ive watched alot of Goldburg matches and he is pretty agile. Hes not just spear, slam, and jackhammer. He started out as just a mindless beast but became a wrestler just like everyone else with moves in their arsenal. I havent seen much more from Ryback that Goldberg hasnt done during his debut. Ryback is only that mindless beast that Goldburg started out as. Ryback cant even speak without hyperventilating lol… Im not taking anything from Ryback because I like his character with obvious resemblance to Goldburg, Dont bash the man because he fulfilled a roll that WCW needed and WWE didnt know how to transfer it to their own needs when they acquired it. GOLDBURG FAN!

just so you dont say.. hey you cant even spell his name… I can but im thinking of Goldburg as an IceBURG that sank everything that went his way lol. Maybe “Goldberg” can stop CMPunks streak. Good plot i think

I would like to see Goldberg/Lesnar II because the first was shit but it doesn’t change much for me, I’m not bothered either way.

Dude, I was all “HMMM” when reading the headline. Then I see who the source is, and I was all “Damn man.” However, then I read about WWE’s website listing Goldberg in a future DVD release, I was all “k….” So I will take this with a grain of salt. Great job getting this out, because I haven’t read it anywhere. Then again, why should I when I can visit here? I do agree with Goldberg being overrated, all’s you need to do is put him in a front facelock, he goes down quickly.
