ROH News: Former WWE and Current ROH Star, Charlie Haas, is Retiring

According to several live reports from tonight’s ROH WAR Live Event in Asheville, NC, Charlie Haas announced his retirement. Apparently before his match with local worker, Jeff Nealy, Haas said that this would be his last match. Charlie Haas lost the match. After the match, Haas was visibly crying. His Twitter account confirms everything.

Well, if this is indeed the end, thank you very much to Charlie Haas for the memories. From his days with Shelton Benjamin and Kurt Angle, to his parodies, all the way to his recent heel run with ROH. I’ve said multiple times that Haas is doing some of the best work of his career right now, so it’s a great way to go out on top. Charlie will apparently not be having his highly anticipated match with Shelton Benjamin next week at Supercard of Honor.

Congrats to Charlie Haas for becoming a full-time father and husband! I hope retirement treats him well.

About Logan Randall

I love professional wrestling. I love writing. Regardless of what promotion it is, I watch it, cover it, and have fun with it. Also, I've been writing on Wrestle Enigma since the very beginning, and I'll continue to do so until the very end.

I was really enjoying Haas’ work right now and it came completely out of left field, but good for him. :(

    WHAT???!!!! WHY???!!!! NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Charlie Haas also cited Reid Flair’s death as a reason to retire, basically. I wish he would have held out for his match against Shelton Benjamin. Ring of Honor probably allowed him to retire in tonight’s live event, but if they could convince him to work that final match against Benjamin (a longtime friend no less), promote it as his last match ever and then do a huge send-off, that would be incredible.

Well this is bullshit, fuck I was actually really looking forward to that match

  • Josh Rushinock

This doesn’t seem right…. Err, he should at least have the match on Friday. C’mon now.

  • Sean Linhares

    Spiffy title.
