In 2010 El Generico and Colt Cabana formed an alliance to battle Generico’s former tag team partner and arch-rival Kevin Steen and his best friend Steve Corino in their attempt to destroy Generico cause mayhem within Ring of Honor. As the months went by and the feud progressed the comedic duo of Generico and Cabana became a very serious one especially before the following match.
In a pre-match promo Cabana spoke on behalf of his team in anticipation of a Dual Chain Link match which occurred at the Glory By Honor iPPV later that month between the rival teams speaking on how it would be the end. Going into this non-title match against The Kings of Wrestling, Chris Hero and Claudio Castagnoli, now known as WWE’s Kassius Ohno and Antonio Cesaro, it was safe to say that Generico and Cabana’s minds were elsewhere.
As for KOW, they had issues of their own to deal with in the form of Shelton Benjamin and Charlie Haas, Wrestling’s Greatest Tag Team.
Haas and Benjamin were to arrive to the company at Glory By Honor and face The Kings of Wrestling in a special tag team match. KOW used the former WWE Tag Team Champions name as fuel to create heat between the two teams, stating that if they didn’t hold the ROH World Tag Team titles then they were misunderstood on who the actual greatest team in wrestling was.
This match featured on an episode of Ring of Honor’s ROH on HDNet series and for its length is pretty entertaining.
